The Application Administrator I – IAM will primarily focus on managing digital certificate services and public key infrastructure (PKI) to support mission-critical applications and systems. This role provides hands-on engineering support to build, maintain, and optimize internal and external PKI environments, ensuring the secure issuance, renewal, revocation, and overall lifecycle management of digital certificates.

 

In addition to PKI responsibilities, this role will support broader Identity & Access Management (IAM) initiatives, including user authentication, authorization, privileged access management, and identity governance. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure access to systems and data, enforce access policies, and contribute to the development and improvement of IAM standards, best practices, and automation efforts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services, ensuring the secure issuance, renewal, revocation, and lifecycle management of digital certificates.
  • Perform hands-on administration tasks to build, configure, maintain, and optimize internal and external PKI environments.
  • Support migration efforts from legacy certificate authorities to modern PKI solutions, including PKI-as-a-Service platforms.
  • Manage certificate enrollment, auto-renewal, device trust, and certificate deployment across endpoints, servers, and applications.
  • Monitor PKI operations, perform root cause analysis, and resolve complex certificate-related incidents and requests.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including Certificate Practice Statements (CPS), standard operating procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate PKI services with business-critical systems and projects.
  • Administer cloud-based Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms for Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and user lifecycle management.
  • Support broader Identity & Access Management (IAM) functions, including user authentication, authorization, and privileged access management.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of identity governance solutions to enforce access policies, roles, and entitlements.
  • Assist in automating IAM and PKI processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Provide timely updates, status reports, and issue resolution to stakeholders and management.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in IAM, Cybersecurity operations, or IT operations.
  • Foundational knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concepts, digital certificates, and certificate lifecycle management.
  • Basic understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) principles, including authentication, authorization, and privileged access.
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in PKI, IAM, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) or automation tools is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or related IAM/PKI certifications are a plus.

Educational Requirements

This position requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

 

Work Days

Normal workdays are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

 

Work Hours

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
