The Employment Law Paralegal provides legal support to attorneys within the People Care (HR) Department, focusing on employment and labor-related matters. This entry-level paralegal role involves assisting in legal research and analysis, litigation support and matter management, administrative agency filings, document preparation, and attorney administrative support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and response to legal matters including employee complaints, agency charges (e.g., EEOC, DOL), and litigation.
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and memos related to employment matters under attorney supervision.
  • Conduct fact-finding and gather relevant documentation for investigations, discovery responses, and audits.
  • Maintain and organize case files, records, and legal databases.
  • Support internal investigations, including scheduling interviews and summarizing findings.
  • Monitor and track employment-related regulatory deadlines and filings.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and compliance records.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and outside counsel on employment-related matters.
  • Calendar management and administrative support for legal team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and handle information with discretion.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred, ideally in labor/employment law or litigation support.
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws (Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.) and HR compliance procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently or in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).

 

Educational Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies, Human Resources, or related field preferred.

 

Work Days

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

 

Work Hours

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
