Under direct supervision, the Front End Web Developer I works with other designers and developers from business and IT segments to conceive, research, design, and implement new website functionality and maintain existing website code.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writes code, markup, and CSS in a non-WYSIWYG environment.
  • Uses graphic design tools to layout concepts and create visual assets for company sites.
  • Develops ‘Standards’ compliant sites with a concern for accessibility and multi-browser/multi-device compatibility.
  • Converts design comps into complex working web pages using HTML and CSS in a hand-coded environment. Makes some modifications to existing .jsp developed code.
  • Assists in project planning and web site design with technical, business and project leaders; plans and discusses the specifics of projects, new technologies, and deadlines.
  • Clearly communicates difficult and complex technical scenarios to non-technical team-members and management.
  • Manages their tasks and communicates task status to team members.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements


  • This position requires a minimum one year user interface/visual layout experience as well as working with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS in a hand-coded environment.
  • Experience with PHP or similar programming server-side experience and competency with basic database transactions is desirable.
  • Substantial creativity is required. Intermediate level computer experience, including skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, is necessary.
  • This position also requires excellent communication, organizational, customer service, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to work independently is required.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills and proven ability to multi-task and work successfully within strict deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet various deadlines simultaneously is required.
  • In addition, troubleshooting, organizational and problem-solving skills along with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across the Company including the ability to respond to different organizational situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude is necessary.
  • Treating others with respect and upholding Company values is key.


Educational Requirements:

This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Additional college level computer or accounting classes are beneficial.


Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.


Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime (more than forty hours per week) may be necessary.
