The Product Merchandising Analyst I under general supervision, analyzes market pricing and product performance for given regions/sales territories; resolves basic product/ price inquiries; provides general recommendations to the regional sales teams to facilitate the company's merchandising plan/ pricing strategy and maintain Discount Tire's competitive edge

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Category Management team to analyze competitive market; provides competitor price comparison analysis and retail price reports; provides recommendations for "Low Price Strategy" based on industry trends and competitive benchmarks for region/ sales territory; summarizes findings to key partners.
  • Responds/ resolves basic Employee Cost Calls, New Article Verifications, Purchase Price Verifications and Retail Price Management (RPM) Margin checks; leads monthly update calls with region/ sales territories and obtains feedback.
  • Creates and analyzes product cost studies, vendor profit and sales reports, sales and sales price deviations; provides pricing analysis for review.
  • Supports a Merchandise Category and takes direction from the Category Merchant for category specific activities.
  • Calculates and maintains suggested retail prices, open price points and special pricing; ensures "markets" price lists are accurate; processes changes in system.
  • Maintains and audits market price lists and customer competitor profile; provides recommendations.
  • Acts as a liaison between the corporate office and region/ sales territories to communicate Company marketing
  • initiatives and pricing strategy.
  • Compiles product information and creates briefings; gathers and validates all assets needed to support a product launch or advertising campaign; reviews product pricing/ position.
  • Collaborates with the Master Data department and the manufacturer to create and validate product articles; performs routine audit of system data.
  • Maintains the marketing plan of a specific product category; sets retails and assorts products utilizing pricing and merchandising strategies.
  • Identifies volume and costing targets, product quality goals and utilizes market trends.
  • Monitors products throughout their lifecycle; identifies expansion opportunities; collaborates with buyer and supplier to provide recommendations for future products and /or cost negotiations.
  • Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
  • Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to Product Merchandising
  • Research processes, procedures and services.
  • Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a minimum of one year product marketing, merchandising, inventory management, financial analysis or related experience.
  • Company store experience or Tire industry experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft SQL, MicroStrategy & BeX Analyzer is preferred.
  • Proficient in analyzing and summarizing data sets; ability to consolidate multiple sources of information/ analyses into a cohesive story/ recommendation.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships is necessary.
  • Basic presentation skills are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail balanced by ability to see big picture is key. Intermediate skills with Microsoft office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
  • Ability to use pivot tables, v-lookups, index match, formulas and statistical functions are strongly preferred.
  • This position requires excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently is essential.
  • Customer service skills including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude is essential.
  • In addition, troubleshooting, organizational and problem solving skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.

Educational Requirements:

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Management, Advertising, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.

 

Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

 

Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime (more than forty hours per week) may be necessary
