The Senior Instructional Designer ensures the analysis, design, creation, delivery and implementation of educational content to support the organization’s strategic vision, organizational development and cultural initiatives in their area of specialty.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the design, development, edit and update of complex, interactive and advanced virtual instructor guided, web-based, and classroom-based course materials using instructional design methodologies, using the ADDIE model; works closely with Subject Matter Experts to create training solutions to meet business needs.
  • Analyzes and defines learning objectives for training requests, including, but not limited to, project proposal, development agreement, project timelines, costs analysis and recommendation
  • Ensures designs interactive virtual instructor guided, web-based, and classroom-based course materials are designed and developed using instructional design methodologies
  • Facilitates training for Company learning programs and initiatives; conducts Train-the-Trainer training
  • Assesses learning and user research and analysis to assess training effectiveness; ensures success is measured to training goals
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training programs; monitors on-going training needs and adjusts training plans/programs accordingly.
  • Ensures project and project communications are developed and maintained, including, but not limited to, coordination and assignment of project tasks, status reporting, meeting facilitation and report-outs and stakeholder management.
  • Analyzes current instructional design processes; recommends efficiency improvements
  • Establishes and develops template standards
  • Mentors, coaches and trains Instructional Designer I & II
  • Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
  • Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering complex questions related to instructional design processes, procedures and services
  • Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • This position requires a minimum of five years progressive experience, including multimedia training development.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Demonstrated progressive facilitation skills, both in the classroom and virtual environments, are necessary.
  • Multi-site experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex training data, produce effective measurements, and recommend improvements is needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design methodologies, specifically ADDIE and Kirkpatrick, is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise of eLearning authoring tools is required.
  • Proven collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe InDesign, Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Adobe Connect is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio and video editing software is required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
  • A strong drive for results and demonstrated critical thinking skills are necessary.
  • Proven ability to motivate self and others while developing training initiatives is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing is necessary.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage multiple priorities, accurately meet deadlines, deliver quality results, present a professional demeanor and work well both independently and in a team is essential.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude, are required.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and organizational skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.

Educational Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Behavioral Science, or closely related field or equivalent work experience.


Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.


Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
