Under general supervision the Discount Tire OMNI Copywriter develops, designs and executes comprehensive, engaging, and energizing content for external audiences using written communication in a wide variety of genres and technologies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write prolific amount of copy (think in the hundreds if not thousands of words per day) for use on DT websites and web properties.
  • Edit and contribute to all copy for UX design, creative, visual copy. This may also include blog posts, press releases, email subject lines and body content, social media, internal correspondence, media scripts, point-of-sale systems, mobile apps, and any other system or technology as falls under the responsibility of the entire DT OMNI department.
  • Actively review existing copy on DT websites and web properties and provides fresh/improved copy or edits existing copy as needed.
  • Build internal relationships with subject matter experts; synthesizes and refines technical info into attainable written content for end users.
  • Work under deadline, within publishing calendars, and as a part of agile project planning.
  • Provide constructive feedback and criticism as a part of the peer review process.
  • Research topics for keyword use and depth.
  • Add and format copy within content management systems or is eager and willing to learn how to do so.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • This position requires a minimum of three years Communications experience; preferably in a large multi-site organization.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and standards of advertising concepts with experience developing internal and external communications is essential.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy is imperative.
  • Strong and adaptable writing ability for professional, relevant, engaging and creative content is necessary.
  • Proven ability to write copy that informs, captivates and persuades for all types of marketing deliverables is vital.
  • Proven proofreading and editing skills with knowledge of grammar and punctuation is required.
  • Proven ability to write copy using current search engine optimization writing techniques is needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing is necessary.
  • Proven ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple projects to meet various deadlines simultaneously is required.
  • Proven track record developing effective advertising communications using multiple communication platforms is imperative.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office, including skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect and upholding Company values are key attributes. In addition, organizational and problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.


Additional Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation, syntax and semantics
  • Strong editing and proofing skills
  • Ability to synthesize and de-jargonize technical information
  • Proven experience crafting effective call to action statements that convert
  • Basic understanding of SEO and how to naturally incorporate keywords and links into text
  • Experience writing creative tags in conjunction with the use of imagery and graphics
  • Ability to “write tight” and maximize UX design space based on pixel count, whitespace, etc.
  • Experience writing for UX design features, including tool tips, modals, titles/headers other instructional-based content
  • Ecommerce product description copywriting experience
  • Longform creative writing and blogging experience
  • Research skills consistent with journalistic styles, including utilizing data resources and sources
  • Strong knowledge of AP Style
  • Microsoft Office, Google Drive
  • Advanced dexterity in Microsoft Word
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and utilize the knowledge of subject matter experts
  • Highly organized and able to handle working on multiple writing assignments at once
  • Ability to produce high quality work on short deadline with minimal edits, including hourly, daily and weekly turnaround on writing assignments and requests
  • Team player: comfortable giving and receiving feedback in front of a team of 20+, one-on-one, in smaller team and interdepartmental settings
  • Positive attitude with a desire to learn (you know how to have fun at the end of the day)
  • Spanish-language writing ability a plus (although certainly not required)
  • Working knowledge of the principles of document structure, composition and organization
  • Ability to format copy in HTML
  • Ability to create and upload pages within content management systems



Educational Requirements:

This position requires bachelor's degree portfolio school, journalism, creative writing, communications, English, or related field or equivalent work experience. Marketing degrees preferred


Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.


Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.
