The Director of Logistics is responsible for enterprise logistics strategies, as well as directing and overseeing domestic & global logistics operations. The Director drives customer experience results through customer-centric Last Mile Transportation solutions across eCommerce markets and is responsible for 3rd party vendors for costs, performance and compliance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures product volumes meet forecasted business needs; drives guidelines and best practices
  • Creates annual financial plan; reconciles the monthly financial performance to identify cost drivers and business impacts
  • Formulates proposals and recommends strategic alternatives to maintain high service levels and lowering total delivered costs
  • Defines areas for cost savings and distribution optimization; executes logistics projects and investments, implements initiatives; tracks key metrics and provides summary of cost savings
  • Provides alternative solutions to resolve complex logistics operation issues
  • Manages 3rd party vendors, including but not limited to, negotiating contract terms, defining and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Evaluates critical logistics data and metrics; develops and implements initiatives and corrective actions if metrics are not meeting objectives
  • Evaluates and resolves complex order issues and disputes for all logistics issues
  • Ensures cross-docks and warehouses are operating within established thresholds; meets efficiency and profitability objectives; approves variances
  • Evaluates and determines logistic vendors the Company will partner with; ensures potential partners meet the  standard of price, timing, quality and reliability
  • Ensures compliance with all import / export documentation and regulatory requirements
  • Identifies opportunities to automate operations and system reporting; evaluates and determines technology and system opportunities
  • Provides leadership development and growth for internal talent
  • Provides logistic operations best practices and strategies to stakeholders
  • Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • This position requires a minimum 10 years logistics and transportation experience with internally managed and 3PL-managed distribution centers or related experience with progressive complexity and responsibility. 
  • Proven track record of quantifiable cost saving initiatives in both distribution and transportation
  • Multi-site distribution experience is required.
  • Advanced operational knowledge of logistics in unified commerce is necessary.
  • Experience & knowledge of vendor and contract management is needed.
  • Last Mile Carrier commercial agreement negotiation experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic & global transportation/ distribution operations and inventory management is necessary.
  • Experience in driving initiatives; developing vision, strategy and deployment is necessary.
  • Technical background and experience, ideally logistics automation is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office, including skills with Word and Excel is necessary.
  • Proficiency with MicroStrategy or a similar data analytics tool is required.
  • Progressive data analysis experience is required.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills are essential.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate complex ideas both verbally and in writing is necessary.
  • Proven ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options then implement solutions is essential.
  • Proven ability to provide innovative ideas with the skill to implement ideas is necessary.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently is essential. In addition troubleshooting and organizational skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential. Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred; Six Sigma experience is preferred.
