Under general direction, provides technical expertise, research, analysis and solutions for problems related to store equipment/tools and processes; develops corrective action plans for quality defects, collaborates with stores and vendors/manufactures to improve processes and equipment/tool design, quality and performance.  Aims to eliminate downtime of store operations, improve quality and safety of store processes/equipment/tools, improve efficiency of store operations and provide solutions to technical and procedural problems. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs store process analysis following standard scientific protocols (i.e. Six Sigma/BPM) and present improvement recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Intakes mechanical incidents, tracks issues related to equipment/tools; provides resolution.
  • Diagnoses/troubleshoots mechanical incidents/problems; provides resolution; identifies reoccurring trends/patterns related to equipment/tools issues;
  • Develops corrective action plans for quality defects; provides recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Recommends standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation of store equipment/tools/processes.
  • Recommends appropriate test and desired results to ensure quality design and performance.
  • Ensures testing is completed according to requirements; communicates results to segment leadership.
  • Performs equipment/tools mechanical analysis investigation, including, design review, maintenance and repair analysis, summarizes performance issues to stakeholders.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in design function and quality.
  • Provides recommendations to improve equipment/tool performance.
  • Assess viability of prototypical equipment/tools or design improvements, including cost, timeline and return on investment.
  • Oversees the development of specialized equipment/tools including, but not limited to, collaborating with engineers and manufacturers to design, test, and develop working prototypes, and driving manufacturing changes to improve product quality in both existing and future operations.
  • Documents equipment/tools instructions related to installation, ongoing maintenance, and repair in collaboration with manufacturer.
  • Provides technical assistance to stores (remotely or on-site) in the installation and inspection of equipment/tools.
  • Develops maintenance, repair and retrofit procedures/techniques; may operate, maintain and repair specialized equipment/tools.
  • Coaches and mentors Maintenance and Store personnel regarding equipment/tools.
  • Occasional travel, often with advanced notice may be required.
  • Stays current with the latest industry technologies, trends, issues, and strategies.
  • Assists employees, vendors, and customers (stores) by answering questions related to Store Equipment/Tool design, performance, and maintenance.
  • Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a minimum of 3 years Equipment Inspection/Auditing/Maintenance, preferably via Store experience.
  • Understanding of standard engineering principles and best practices in the design, development or improvement of equipment/tools.
  • Ability to draft conceptual designs; writing and reading schematic and diagram instructions.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, identifying and implementing short/long term countermeasures/improvements.
  • Ability to perform trend/pattern analysis, cost and ROI analysis.
  • Business acumen with a knowledge and understanding of business and technical issues, priorities, goals and strategy is necessary.
  • Knowledge of Company and industry practices and equipment or tools specifications.
  • Project management skills with ability to manage deliverables, expectations, budgets and schedules across functional teams and vendors is imperative.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is necessary.
  • Experience with Lotus Notes and SAP is necessary.
  • Ability to travel to local and regional on-site locations as needed.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization is necessary; must be able to clearly articulate technical ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work successfully independently and within a team and server as a trusted expert for assigned duties is necessary.
  • The ability to work efficiently under pressure, accurately meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently is essential.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive friendly attitude are essential.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 3 years Store experience is preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to obtain Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is required.

 

Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

 

Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary.
