The Splunk Administrator ensures the timely and accurate execution of Splunk application administration duties; deploys, manages, and troubleshoots complex Splunk Enterprise environments. Has understanding of Splunk best practices and deployment methodologies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with IT engineering, Security and Operations teams to implement and grow Splunk environment
  • Creates security, incident, and workflow automation
  • Creates meaningful reports and dashboards in Splunk
  • Trains peers and other admins on how to utilize Splunk for their respective business needs
  • Manages Splunk licensing to ensure adequate capacity for inbound data
  • Ensures proper Splunk data ageing and management of configuration files for optimal system performance
  • Ensures application administration and maintenance, and patch testing, deployment and maintenance are completed accurately and timely
  • Troubleshoots complex and escalated application and/or customer issues created as a result of problem resolution in applications, databases or web specialty areas; recommends process improvements
  • Ensures disaster recovery testing for applications is completed accurately and timely; leads implementation of disaster recovery plan
  • Ensures application integrity
  • Ensures system activity and tuning is monitored for optimum performance
  • Mentors and trains Application Administrator I & II
  • Researches and recommends tools and procedures for increased Infrastructure performance
  • Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
  • Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to application procedures and services
  • Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • This position requires a minimum of five years progressive application administration experience.
  • Proven knowledge of database, email and/ or web administration is required.
  • IT experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of server operating systems, server topologies, server hardware, and security is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in building and managing Splunk Search Head and Indexer Clusters
  • Splunk Architect Certification with 3+ years of experience
  • AWS cloud certification a plus
  • Knowledge and experience creating automation scripts (i.e. Splunk Processing Language, Python)
  • Working knowledge of regular expression (regex)
  • Advanced knowledge of network components and function is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including skills with Word and Excel is necessary.
  • Proven ability to meet established service levels, availability, performance, data privacy, and security guidelines is necessary.
  • This position requires good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work efficiently under pressure, accurately meet deadlines and present a professional demeanor is essential.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team, multi-task, and manage multiple projects to meet various deadlines simultaneously is required.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude are essential.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect and upholding Company values are key attributes. In addition, organizational and problem solving skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential.

 

Educational Requirements:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications in relative technology are required.

 

Work Days:

Normal work days are Monday through Friday, with on-call rotation including weekends.  Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.

 

Work Hours:

Normal work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Additional hours may be necessary.
