Legal Assistant II - Employment Law

The Legal Assistant II assists lawyers and legal personnel by handling legal administrative and clerical work related to employment law. This role includes conducting legal research, drafting documents, managing case files, and assisting with litigation and compliance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in case management, including organizing and maintaining legal documents, pleadings, and discovery materials.
- Prepare legal filings, discovery material, trial exhibits, summaries, and case chronologies via Smartsheet.
- Assist human resource and legal team in factual investigations, gather case-related documentation, and communicate with clients and outside counsel.
- Support attorneys in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials by preparing case materials.
- Maintain schedules and calendars, track critical deadlines and maintain case schedules, ensuring attorneys are informed of upcoming dates.
- Perform legal research.
- Intake, review, redact, and produce documents for all subpoena and verification of employment/income requests.
- Assist in drafting and proofreading legal documents, contracts, correspondence and workplace policies.
- Support compliance team in tracking, auditing, and deployment of compliance program.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- This position requires a minimum of two years’ experience of legal administrative experience.
- Excellent telephone etiquette, data entry, typing, copying, faxing, filing and scheduling skills, are required.
- Intermediate level computer experience, including skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, is required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, detail-oriented and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Smartsheet skills a plus
- Customer service skills including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, accurately meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor and work well independently is essential
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Educational Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification is a plus.
