Mobile Van Sr Asst Manager

Working independently, the Mobile Van Sr. Assistant Manager will supervise a Tire Technician and drive to customer facilities to complete airchecks, tire inspections, tread depth measurements, and to change/rotate/repair tires. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the mobile unit and equipment are maintained in proper working order. Additionally, this position will process product sales and sales adjustments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive the mobile unit to and from customer locations to inspect, rotate and/or change tires
- Lead and supervise the Mobile Van Tire Technician
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed
- Determine tires repairability and the type of repair required to satisfy the customer
- Complete airchecks of all tires to ensure they are properly inflated
- Provides customer service to the customer at location. Process sales
- Ensure the mobile unit and tools are in proper working order and cleaned after use
- Loads, unloads, stacks, and moves tires/wheels/supplies
- Uses the appropriate tools, equipment, and processes to break the bead, remove the tire from the wheel, install a new tire onto a wheel, and seat the bead.
- Rebuild TPMS sensors, install valve stems, install new Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors on a wheel.
- Inflate changed tires to the proper inflation as indicated on the work order.
- Balance all finished tire assemblies prior to installing them back onto the customer’s vehicle.
- Repair eligible tire injuries according to the tire repair best practices and confirming all injuries have been repaired by dunking the repaired tire.
- Torqueing all assemblies (both serviced and non-serviced) to manufacturer specifications as outlined on the work order.
- Lifting vehicles in preparation to have service provided using hydraulic jacks or low platform lifts.
- Pulling and staging inventory (tires, wheels, supplies) by the equipment to be used by the service team to change the tires.
- Unloading delivery trucks and putting inventory away in the storage racks on the ground level, in the mezzanine, or in the designated special-order area.
- Complete Tire Identification Number cards for all new tires sold to the customer by Discount Tire.
- Inform the customer of when the vehicle will be completed, and validate no other items are needed.
- Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- This position requires one year as a Discount Tire Assistant Manager.
- Must be certified as a safety leader.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able perform physical activities during their scheduled work shift, for example standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
- Person must have medium dexterity in their hands to perform the duties identified above.
- Must be capable of understanding both written and verbal instructions, possess the ability to learn, read and comprehend labels, work orders, and able to read and understand numbers on a tire.
- Must be mechanically capable of operating the standard tools, equipment, and specialty tools used at a typical store location.
- Ability to communicate across all levels of the store is necessary; must be able to clearly verbally articulate ideas. Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude is essential.
- Ability to motivate self and others is needed.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure, accurately meet deadlines is essential. Treat others with respect and uphold company values is key.
Educational Requirements:
This position requires some high school. Diploma or GED is preferred, and additional college level courses are beneficial.
Work Days:
Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be necessary.
Work Hours:
Normal work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additional hours may be necessary. Local Travel is required
